Sustainability
Taking Responsibility
As part of the jewelry industry, we recognize the harmful impacts it can have on our planet. It is our responsibility to seek solutions and alternatives to mitigate these issues. We strive to offer the highest quality jewellery while minimising our environmental footprint through the use of lab-grown diamonds and recycled metals.
Lab-Grown Diamonds
Diamonds are celebrated for their brilliance and hardness, rated as 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. However, the environmental and social damage caused by diamond mining is significant.
In recent years, awareness has increased regarding the ethical implications of diamond sourcing. While initiatives like the Kimberley Process aim to reduce the flow of conflict diamonds, the conversation has evolved to include lab-grown diamonds as a sustainable alternative.
Lab-grown diamonds are created by replicating the natural process in controlled environments, allowing us to exclude mining and its associated social risks. The only difference between mined and lab-grown diamonds lies in their origin; they are physically, optically, and chemically identical. We assess their quality using the same criteria: the 4Cs (Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat).
Recycled Gold
Recycled gold comes from various sources, including old jewellery, broken items, and even electronic waste. Using recycled gold minimizes the environmental damage associated with gold mining, such as habitat destruction, water pollution, and carbon emissions.
Recycled gold is refined to achieve the desired purity (measured in karats). This refining process removes impurities and allows the gold to be reused in new products. By prioritising recycled gold, we support sustainable practices in the jewellery industry and promote a circular economy, where materials are reused and repurposed. This approach helps avoid ethical issues associated with traditional gold mining, such as labor exploitation and conflict minerals.
